The adventures of Ari and Luna
Ari & Luna are two dogs whose everyday adventures visiting friends, learning new sounds, exploring colors double as gentle language lessons in English, Spanish, and German.
Every page is designed to feel like a story first and a lesson second.
Designing for three languages
The Challenge
English, Spanish and German don't follow the same grammar. Word order changes, and a short line in one language can run much longer in another. I had to fit all three on every page without crowding the illustrations, and without one language feeling like a translation of the others.
My Solution
I wrote short, simple sentences that keep their rhythm in all three languages, and gave each language its own box shape on the page so readers can easily find and follow theirs. And so the books could be heard and not just read, I recorded myself reading each one in all three languages and linked every recording with a QR code readers can scan.
The Impact
After my niece got the books, she learned my dogs' names and started loving them the way I do. That's when I knew the books were doing what I hoped: keeping us close, even from far away.
Brand & Visual System
Extending the illustrations into motion
The book doesn't have to stay flat. Here, the final spread's illustration becomes the setting for a walk cycle test; an early look at Ari and Luna moving through their own world alongside a page-turn animation that lets the book itself be experienced, not just viewed.

The adventures of Ari and Luna: Everything is okay
"Everything is Okay" is a heartfelt message I aimed to capture through this story. Luna and Ari experience some challenging moments, and the book is designed to teach children and sometimes adults that despite life's hardships, everything will be alright. Through their journey, I hope to inspire resilience, hope, and comfort in readers of all ages.
The adventures of Ari and Luna: Animal sounds
For this book, I aimed to keep it simple and focused on the names of animals. I wanted children to actively engage with the story by creating their own sounds, since animal noises can vary across different languages. This interactive approach encourages kids to participate and learn in a fun, meaningful way.
Fun fact: german, spanish and english chicken sounds are incredibly different
The adventures of Ari and Luna: Learning the colors
For this particular book, I aimed to combine humor and vibrant colors to make it visually engaging and memorable.
